The potato crop is one of the important strategic food and industrial vegetable crops in Egypt, on which some food industries are based and an important source of national agricultural income.

potato exports also contribute to obtaining hard currency and foreign exchange.

the research problem was confined to the fluctuation and instability of the exported quantity of fresh potatoes.

therefore, the research aimed to study the development of the production and export capacity of the potato crop, the geographical distribution of Egyptian potato exports, and the study of the competitiveness of Egyptian potato exports in the most important foreign markets.

among the most important findings of the research is that the most important export markets for the potato crop are Russia and Greece, where these markets together represent about 49% of the total value of Egypt's potato exports, and about 48.63% of the total amount of Egyptian exports of potatoes as an average for the period (2017-2021) ..

and the most important export seasons for the potato crop.

as it became clear from the results of the penetration rate that the Russian market occupies the first place, followed by the Greek market in the second place, respectively.

the research recommended the following : • promoting Egyptian exports of the potato crop by increasing the cultivated area and reducing losses with the use of modern technology in agriculture.

• work to increase exports of potatoes through the participation of small farmers alongside large producers and large export farms by activating the contract farming system in production and export.

• the need to work on having a strategic planning for the production of potatoes for export, aiming at expanding potato exports to foreign markets, in a manner commensurate with the expansion of potato production locally.
