The article discusses attempts to classify communication theories proposed over the past decades.
examining their shortcomings, he argues that communication theorizing is inseparable from research practice, and then there are appropriate criteria for classifying communication theories in the group of theoretical concepts of communication with research methodologies and their cognitive foundations ; it is epistemology that provides the basis for combining communication concepts and research methodologies.
he also argues that by using epistemological and methodological criteria, a distinction can be made between two traditions naturalistic and interpretive of communication theory and research can be distinguished.

L'article traite des tentatives de typologisation des théories de la communication proposées au cours des dernières décennies.
examinant leurs défauts, il soutient que la théorisation de la communication est inséparable de la pratique de recherche, par conséquent les critères appropriés pour la typologie des théories de la communication se trouvent dans la combinaison des conceptions théoriques de la communication avec les méthodologies de la recherche et leur fondement épistémologique ; c'est l'épistémologie qui fournit la base pour rassembler les conceptions de la communication et les méthodologies de la recherche.
il soutient également que l'utilisation épistémologique et critères méthodologiques, deux traditions-naturaliste et interprétative-de la théorie de la communication et la recherche peut être distinguée.
