In this novel, Morrison presents the character from a slave's perspective, wherein she narrates the story of the resistance of a black woman to the patriarchal injustice that she and her family faced.

The main aim of the current work is to analyze the consequences of double oppression among the minority characters that causes physical and psychological agony.

In addition, the study also explores the depic tion of the mother character 'Sethe' and escaping slavery that offers an expansive understanding of the implications behind deconstructing the identity of the African American woman, which resulted in her double oppression.

This study adopts the critical black feminist approaches of Maria Stewart (1833), Zora Neale Hurston (1937), and Alice Walker (1984) to present a real picture of physical and psycho logical suffering and its resultant impacts on the identity of African American women as well as the portrayal of motherhood in the novel Beloved.

The findings of this study show that a discussion from the narrative voice perspective may offer a rich and layered understanding of the types of struggle Sethe and her family were facing, which included economic, psychological, and physical oppressions of black African American slave women.

Finally, the study suggests more research on the imprints of racial marginalization and bias that still exist and impact the postmodern world today.
