This study is an attempt to reconfigure the methods used by the French colonial authority in controlling water, as a human basic requirement and need, in the region of the ahramoumou and maghraoua tribes in the middle atlas.

in relation to the French approach towards water, we have emphasized that the French were significantly present in the process of this resource' smanagementas well as of space regulation, especially in the pastoral sector which forms the foundations of daily life activities in the mountains.

in the course of our research, we consulted the reports of civil affairs officers in the region about the different ways the colonial administration regulated transhumance adaptations, water exploitation, and the punishment of violators.

the French administration, unflinchingly, leveraged water to infiltrate the rural capital (pastoral).

In doing so, they seized control over the fundamental aspects of life and continuity in the tribal society, in a way that served the interests of the protectorate institution in Morocco.

الملخص FRE

Cette étude, essaie de restituer les procédés de l'autorité française coloniale relatifs au contrôle de l'eau dans l'espace montagnard des tribus d'Ahramoumou et Maghraoua au Moyen Atlas, cette eau qui constitue une nécessité et une exigence essentielle et vitale des populations.

Nous avons évoqué dans notre intervention sur la conception française de l'eau, que le protectorat était toujours vivement présent dans l'opération d'administration, d'orientation et de gestion de l'espace, et surtout dans le secteur du pacage qui est le fondement de la vie quotidienne de la montagne.

Dans ce cadre, nous avons porté notre attention sur les rapports des officiers des affaires indigènes dans la région et leur dispositif d'organisation de l'eau, et les infractions à la loi.

L'autorité française n'hésite pas à exploiter l'eau pour s'infiltrer dans le capital humain rural (pacage) pour tenir et saisir l'élément vital des indigènes et ce pour s'assurer la pérennité dans la société tribale dans l'intérêt du protectorat français au Maroc.
