The importance of the right to information or the right to knowledge is increasing at a steady and continuous pace, especially for certain groups such as those work-ing in the fields of development and investment, academies, civil society, the me-dia, and even governments.

many of the changes that took place in the world have contributed to increasing acceptance of the right to information, including the shift towards democracy that has occurred in many regions of the world since the early nineties, as well as the massive revolution in information technology that changed the way societies relate to and use information.

which has made the right to information more important to citizens, and this technology has enhanced the public's ability to control corruption, monitor and hold officials accountable, and contribute to decision-making processes, and this has led to increased demands for respect for the right to information.

the research analyzes international guarantees (the international basis for claiming the right to information as a basic human right) by reviewing reliable international and regional mechanisms and decisions of international courts and quasi-judicial bodies.

this research attempts to reach answers to a number of questions, most notably: what is the real protection provided by the international community to the right to information? and how effective is this protection on the ground? is international protection sufficient to guarantee this right for member states? did the international judiciary contribute to activating this protection? given the nature of the subject of the study, the methods adopted in the research were complex, as a group of methods were relied upon, including what was required by the study mainly in all its stages, and what came as secondary or accidental in some stages of the study, for the purpose of familiarity with the subject from more than one aspect, and came the methods are based on the analytical method, the descriptive method, and the comparative method.

the research reached a number of results, some of which are limited to the in ternational level, and some are reflected at the national level and the impact of that international protection of the right to information on the official and unofficial national mechanisms that guarantee rights and freedoms.
