Usually, industry plays a large and distinct role in comprehensive economic development, as it has contributed throughout history to the development and progress processes of the countries and to pushing forward comprehensive economic development in general and industrial development in particular, as it is an important source of income for the population of these countries, and attracts the largest number of workers in them.

it provides them with the necessary commodities of food, clothing and medicine.

in order to find out the effective role that this sector can play in the economic development in Libya and to assess the course of its activity and to overcome the problems that hinder it, it was necessary to first look at the economic conditions in it and the comprehensive development plans in this country during the period from 1970 to 1997 AD and the oil expenditures on programs industrial development plans compared to expenditures on other economic sectors.

and analyzing the reality of the Libyan industrial sector through three important basic variables that were adopted in this analysis.

firstly, knowing the extent of the contribution of manufacturing industries to the Libyan GDP, secondly and the extent of the contribution of the manufacturing industry to employment, and thirdly, the extent of the contribution of manufacturing industries to Libyan exports compared to the rest of other Libyan exports.
