Synthesis and reactions of 2-deoxy-sugar nitrone

Nitrones (3) derived from 2-Dexoyribose oxime and p-chloro-benzaldehyde without employing any protection of hydroxyl group were isolated in a pure suger state.

The addition of nitrones (3) to typical diporaophile gives predomiantly the suger regiospecifically substituted by isoxazolidines and rationalized by NMR spectroscopy.
