الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aimed to investigate the effect of a computerized program on the EFL 10th grade students' grammar achievement in Al-Qasr Directorate of Education, during the second semester 2010 / 2011.

The study attempted to answer the following two research questions: 1.

Is there a statistical significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05) using a computerized program and the conventional method on 10th graders' English grammar achievement? 2.

Is there a statistical significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05) between a computerized program and the conventional method attributed to students' gender? The sample of the study consisted of 80 male and female 10th graders (40 male students and 40 female students) who were purposefully selected from Khalid Bin Al-Waleed School for Boys and Al-Qasr Secondary School for Girls.

The sample of the study was assigned into two groups : the experimental group (40 male and female students) which was taught using a developed computerized program, and the control group (40 male and female students) which was taught using the conventional methods.

The researcher developed a computerized program and constructed a pre / post-tests where reliability and validity were ensured. The results indicated the results indicated that there were statistical significant differences at ( α ≤ 0.05) in 10th grade students' achievement in the English grammar that are attributed to the method of teaching and that there were no statistical significant differences at (α ≤ 0.05) in 10th grade students' achievement in English grammar that are attributed to gender ( male or female ). In light of the findings of the study, the researcher suggested a group of recommendations among which are the following : Conducting other studies to investigate the effect of computer-based programs that include other variables such as the socio-economic status and attitudes toward the acquisition of a foreign language.

Training and encouraging teachers to use computer-based programs.
