The main objective of this bibliometric study is to analyze statistically the status of book publishing movement in Jordan during the period (1980-2000) as it was controlled by the Jordan National Bibliographies of that period.

It also aims at answering several questions related to the number of books published during that period, their languages, place of publishing, nature of responsibility (author, translator, editor, etc.), editions, and number of pages.

The results of the study show that (11731) books were published in Jordan during that period, with an average of (558.6) book annually.

The number of books published yearly ranged from (221) books in 1980 to (737) books in 2000.

96.4% of total books were published in Arabic.

The majority of the books were in social sciences (24.68%) followed by literature (22.57%), then Islamic religion (13.7%).

The least number of books were in fine arts (2.39%), philosophy and psychology (1.46%).

The majority of the books were published in the Capital city of Amman.

Only (3.65%) of the books were published outside Jordan.

94.95% of the books were issued in one edition.

The results show that (18.7%) of the published books were issued in less than 100 pages, and (37.2%) exceed (200) pages, and (7.8%) exceed (400) pages.

The study ends with some recommendations that may help in developing book-publishing movement in Jordan.
