Comparative performance of virtual private networks’ access techniques

In this paper a first comparative performance; evaluation of two virtual private Networks’ (VPNs) access techniques is presented.

Basically, there arc two acccss techniques, namely Network Acccss Server (NAS) initiated and Client initialed.

VPNs performance rely on various variables, cach of (hem introduces its self on llic network perform an ce.

In this research the end-to-end delay and link utilization measures of the two VPNs’ access techniques arc modeled, simulated and compared with each other.

Our experimental results obtained show that the models used to evaluate the performance of the VPNs’ acccss techniques exhibit a good degree of accuracy in predicting system behavior under various working conditions.

The results also demonstrate that the NAS initiated VPNs have loss effcct on the end to end delay and link utilization than the Client initiated technique.
