The study ( tv and enlightening university young people about the challenges of cultural identity in Iraq)investigates the role of television in Iraq in the face of cultural challenges that have become a threat to the cultural identity of the muslim community in general,and the youth in particular , by raising awarenessof the dangers of this cultural invasion on the privacy of their identity.

The systematic framework deals with problem of the study which is determined in the absence of assumed role of the Iraqi tv channels in the face of challenges that have become a threat to the cultural identity of the community in general and the youth in particular , and undermine its assumed function concerning educating the community groups about the danger of the cultural invasion on their identity The study aims at answering the question which represent the essence of its problem ; what are the reasons behind the shortcomings in Iraqi television concerning enlightening the college students about the challenges of cultural identity .

This study depends on survering method to collect data and determine the relationship between its variables, since data was collected by a questionmaire made for this purpose and its has been granted more than one answer to asection of questions in order to know how the sample students deal with the media.

The sample students represent the iraqi college students in university of Baghdad , and the selection of these samples was made randomly and it consist of 200 items.

In the theoretical framework , the researchies presented anumber of procedueral definitions of the terms used in the study , and discussed the tv and cultural planting theory , and made clear their vision in the section of uses , in addition to discussing the role of tv in educating individuals about the challenges getting to the challenge of cultural identity in Iraq.

The results of this study ( tv and enlightening university young people about the challenges of cultural identity in Iraq ) can be summarized to some points ;that tv in general has the most important role in the areas of developing awareness among young university Iraqi students , and this reflects the ranges of benefit from this medium in preparing defense strategies for cultural identity .

Also , this study confirmed the weakness of the role played by television channels concerning the awareness of the dangersof exotic cultures of globalization and the challenges by young people that is, they do not play an active role in educating students about the cultural challenges and their risks upon the national cultural identity .

these results reflect the opinion of university students that the required role of tv channels should do , does not exist .
