privatisation contributes to enhancing investments in any given economy .

Emancipating Banks - the major actors in the saving investing process - from the burden of government intervention, should become a top priority .

The paper consists of 3 chapters, in defense of the above -mentioned argument.

The first chapter discusses the concept of privatisation theoretically as well as its main mechanisms; in addition to critically examining the efficiency of the public sector.

It concludes that privatisation would contribute to increasing the efficiency of the public enterprise.

The consists chapter focuses on the role of privatisation in the process of structural adjustment of the Arab Economies.

The third, examines the Banking sector and calls for its privitisation as a prerequisite for enhanced capital flows.

The paper ends with such recommendations for reforming the Banking sector in the Arab world as a policy of encouraging competition amongst Banks and following realistic intrest rates .

The Author views such reforms as the first, but essential step towards restructuring the Arab economy .
