The Ottoman Empire gave the region of Hijaz and its inhabitants a special attention and eare, a treatment to which none of its other regions can be a suitable match..

This must have stemmed from the religious status which Hijaz enjoyed; being a house to the Two Holy Mosques i.e the Holy Mosque of Makkah and the ?rophet’s Mosque of Madina.

This care has taken various shapes and forms, ranging from religious, social and education care; which is manifested through constant rehabilitation and expansion of The Two Holy Mosques and other historical religious sites, providing charity food and aminities to the inhabitants and building lodgings to shelter the homeless poor and the visitors to the Two Holy Mosques, and schools to educate the inhabitants children.

Health sector is not left out of the equation, the Empire has employed a graet effort in providing health care to the inhabitants of Hijaz as well as the ?ilgrims by etablishing hospitals, equipped with medical instruments and professional doctors.

The hospital established by Izzat ?asha in Madina in the beginning of / 14th century H (twertieth Centurg G.) is an excellent example of this effort.This reserch aims at highlighting such developments depening on ottoman documents.
