The study by the British Orientalist, Hamilion AR Gibb (1895-1974) of the science of history represents one of the significant turning points in the evolution of historical writings of Muslim historians during the reign of the Ayyubid state.

Gibb researched the development of the science of history in the Ayyubid reign through some studies.

He reviewed the efforts of the most prominent Muslim historians during the reign of the Ayybid state.

Being one of the most moderate and objective among the Orientalists in his generation, Gibb tried to formulate an objective approach to the study of the evolution of the science of history in the Ayyubid state, which is regarded as the most important contribution by the British Orientalist school.
