This study aims at highlighting the social and academic characteristics of the unemployed, distribution of unemployment to Al Madinah Al Munawwarah districts, and then investigating correlation among some variables in connection with the unemployed.

To achieve these aims personal data about (6963) unemployed people registered at the Ministry of Labour up to the year 2013 were subject of analysis.

The data treated statistically included: names, age, specialization, date of graduation, institutes of graduation, marital status, gender, disability ….

and other variables.

The study revealed unemployment level of 1.55% of the population of Al Madinah Al Munawwarah: this percentage fluctuate among the different districts in the city: it correlates positively with Saudi citizens intensity in the area.

The study has shown that people specialized in Human and Educational Sciences, Basic Sciences, and Computer Sciences constitute the highest unemployment rate; and there is a big percentage of academically “distinguished/outstanding” graduates who are still unemployed.

Furthermore, the majority of the unemployed are males.

The study recommends students’ choice of academic specialization / major be orientationally directed and controlled and further detailed studies on the period the youth spend looking for a job.
