This research has critically and documentarily studied the poetry attributed to Imri Al-Qais.

It attempted to clarify the reasons of doubt in the authenticity of what Al-Alam Al-Shantamri has narrated to Al- Asma'i.

It has also clarified the reasons of this doubt as most of the poetry goes back to Hammad, the narrator.

The fact that Imri Al-Qais belongs to the old pre-Islamic era confirms the assumption that his poetry is highly likely lost as it is the case of most of the poetry of his contemporaries.

Moreover, the topics of his poetry did not touch the social issues that the famous people of that era were concerned about.

The topics of his poetry such as romance, hunting, description of horses and rain did not require lengthy poems.

Another shadow of doubt came from the fact that Imri Al-Qais did not know most of the places described in the poetry attributed to him.

Other reasons included repetition, same patterns in building the poems, fabrication, addition, weakness, and psychological and emotional contradiction in the poems.

In addition, the research has studied in detail the collections of poems where proofs of this proposition have been provided.

The researcher has concluded that what can be really attributed to Imri Al-Qais is three pieces totaling twenty lines.

But most of the poetry is either clearly not his poetry or there is a big doubt around it so that it is difficult to attribute it to him
