Terminology is the key of sciences.

It is indeed the ultimate goal and end product of these sciences.

Terminology is the culmination of concepts and a sign of distinction among nations.

For this reason, the study of terminology acquires special importance among branches of knowledge.

This study comes under the title "The Term of kholf in the Book of Sebawihi" and is intended to reveal the real concept of the term in the book and to prove that it is a considerable origin in Sabawihi's thought although this term is rerely used in the book.

However, the researcher noticed that this term represents quite a common concept.

This research includes an introduction, a preface, six themes and a conclusion, these may be briefly stated as follows: 1 - (Al-khlof) as a linguistic term.

2 - The term of Alkliof between use and negligence.

3 - Duality of (word and meaning) in Arabic grammar.

4 - Nature of language according to Sibawihi.

5 - Constituents of the concept of the term (Kholf) in the Book of Sebawahi.

6 - The Terms that are indicative of (Kholf) concept in the Book.

The research has come up with a number of results; among them are the following: • The ultimate goal of a terminology study is the identification of concepts which distinguishes it from a lexicographic study of words.

• Sibawuhi had made perfect connection between the linguistic system of a lamguage and the outside realty that is in direct contact with the elements of speech.

• Al-Magam (The context) is a new concept fully realized by Sibawihi who called for adhering to it and activating it in analyzing the structures of Arabic language.

Sibawihi had blamed his contemporaries who disregard context.

• Context represents the social aspect of language.

It stands as an essential element which cannot be over-looked, as it is strongly connected to meaning.
