Giardia lamblia is considered to be one of the most parasites found in contaminated water.

Children whom infected with chronic Giardiasis may develop Growth retardation.

In some cases, the use of routine diagnostic methods may be insufficient to demonstrate the presence of these organisms, a special training for labor is required to have the appropriate Experience to distinguish between microscopic findings.

For that reason, there was a continues development for new diagnostic approaches that assess the patient comfort and the credibility of the laboratory work.

In this study, a Solid-Phase Qualitative Immunochromatographic Assay to detect Giardia Lamblia copro- antigen were tested.

And the results were compared with the traditional microscopic examination.

The study included 100 children, 80 infected with Giardiasis and 20 were control subjects.

Comparing results of routine Microscopic examination with the Solid- Phase Qualitative Immunochromatographic Assay proved that the latter has high specifety 100%, and good sensitivity 92.4%.
