الملخص EN

The study will deal with the experience of offering the Islamic Economics course as academic specialization by the department of Islamic Economics at Umm Al-Qura University.

The specialization had undergone different modification iterated in the form of phases, among them two phases are of those in which the department had experienced crises deemed to be passing by most of the stakeholders, therefore they were dealt poorly as it were also considered to be partial; nevertheless, in due course of time they embodied a challenge that transformed the position of department and classified it as “supportive department” producing the course content for other specializations such as accounting, the top ranker of the university as per the students’ demand, - previously Shari’ah and Islamic studies – or as per the theoretic faculties.

Hence, the aim of the study is to present a plan for building the competitive skills for the program which study the field of “Islamic Economics” i.e., through a comprehensive framework for restoring the educational program, capable of accommodating the internal as well as external changes synchronizing with the competition among the international, Arabic and Islamic universities offering Islamic economics or its branches such as “Islamic Finance” and “ Islamic Banking”.
