Wetlands are lands that are flooded or saturated with water, for sufficient periods to support living organisms.

The deterioration of the wetlands is progressing faster than other ecosystems, so there was an urgent need to protect them worldwide.

These attempts of protection have already been begun in 1971 with the Ramsar Convention, which is an international convention that preserves the wise use for all wetlands in the world.

This is rendered to the importance of wetland in performing ecological and biological functions in the field of preserving the environmental balance, and they have a great economic importance as a source of fish and animals.

This research deals with an analytical study of the Geo-environmental map of wetlands eastern to Manzala Lake using GIS.

The study area is bordered in the north with Mediterranean Sea, in the east with the Suez Canal, in the south with the Salam Canal, and in the weste with the borders of Port Said governorate.

The study deals with the general characteristics of wetlands and their evolution, as will as the physical and chemical properties.

The research ends with studying the practical aspects and environmental hazards affecting the study area.

The study relies on fieldstudy which occupied the greates part of the process of data collecting, to determine the practical aspects and environmental hazards affecting the wetlands in the study area.
