Memory deals with the processes of encoding, storing and retrievir information.

Certain students face hard time in remembering what they have revised.

However, effective memorization is based on the application of certain memorization strategies.

The question to be asked is: What do our students lack to effectively memorize their lessons? We hypothesized that if first year students of English- at Badji Mokhtar University- were aware of the different memorization strategies, then they would effectively encode, store and retrieve the new learned information.

A questionnaire was administered to investigate student awareness of the different memorization strategies and techniques.
