الملخص EN

We try in this article to discuss the problematic of the thematic method in Arabic critical practices by questioning its definition, philosophic roots and the critical tendencies.

And, we focus on the image in which it appeared in Arabic critics; using some mechanisms of the historical and the comparative methods.

For a deep analysis of this problematic we follow in this study a methodological plan summed up in the following elements: 1- The term and the problematic of its translation( thematic):the term thematic is categorized as one of “language arabization forms” 2- Definition of thematic in the western dictionaries: we try within this element to analyze thematic definition in a lot of dictionaries and western international encyclopedias such as: Quillet and Larousse encyclopedia.

3- Definition of thematic in the Arabic dictionaries: in “Lissan al-Arab” dictionary and Al- Auajam al-Wasseetand in some modern Arabic dictionaries.

4- Definition of thematic method in the modern western approaches: dealing with thematic method in modern approaches concerning its application arise a lot of methodological problematic shown up in multiple definitions of this method.

5- Philosophical roots of thematic: thematic method comes from different philosophic origins.

These various roots may resulted this variety of terms and definitions.

The same reason that made this method appears in different manifestations which were incarnated in its theoretic and practical tendencies.

This, made it also open up to different methods.

6- Thematic critical tendencies: we can limit the big thematic tendencies as follow: 1.

The psychological tendency: as per (J.Poulet) 2.

The formalistic tendency: as per (J.Rousset) 3.

Cognitive tendency: as per (J.P Richard) Meanwhile, those big tendencies carry within themselves other tendencies; or various treats; the reason why thematic method appears in different manifestations.

7- Thematic method in the contemporary Arabic critical discourse: we deal in this element with: First : the term problematic: per Abd-al- Kareem Hassan ,Abd-al- kareem Al-khattaby, Ibraheem Al- Khateeb and Muhammed Baradah in its introduction for a book of Abd –al-Kareem Al-Khattaby titled “ writing and experience”.

Second: Arabic thematic critical approaches: Arabic thematic critical approaches manifested especially in some master and doctorate dissertations.

We can here refer to a master dissertation titled” thematic of Faith in François Mauriac” of Abd al-Fattah Klito, a doctorate dissertation of Kitty Salem under the supervision of B.Richard titled” Anxiety per Guy de Moupasson” and a state doctorate dissertation of Abd al-kareem Hassan under the supervision of Andry Michel titled” constructive thematic in As-sayyab’s poetry” in 1983.
