This research investigates the issue of legendary lion in the Arabic pre-Islamic poetry.

It also looks into the ancient nations’ views about this legendary lion that was divine according to their beliefs and cultures.

The lion was one of other animals that appeared in the art and the ancient religious scripts.

It embodied the heavenly world in the ancient human beliefs because of its power and authority.

This power continued to recent ages until the lion became a logo for presidency and kingdom.

Archeology indicated that the legendary lion existed in the beliefs of Arabian Peninsula nations.

The drawing of Yaghuth, the idol that was mentioned in the Holy Quran, was observed in the Arabian Peninsula.

This idol was worshiped by some of the Arab nations as it used to help them according to their beliefs.

The mythical holiness for the lion embodied in the poet’s description of their heroes in the battle ground; in addition to praising kings, presidents and tribe’s leaders where they described them as the lions, the godlike and the rainmaker; all these similes were originated from a belief of the legendary lion’s divinity.
