This study deals with a problematic issue in the classical Arabic criticism field, representing a crisis for modern poets in that too narrow scopes or fewer poetical purposes are left behind classical poets.

The issue was dealt with analytically through a classical critic Ibn Tabataba's work "Eyar Al She'r" "The Scale of Poetry".

Ibn Tabataba was the first among critics who casted light on this issue, described and addressed it; and surpassed them by suggesting solutions to find way out of the impasse.

This study seeks to critically analyze this problem in Ibn Tabataba's work, in terms of importance, rationales, and creative artistic solutions suggested overcoming the problem.

The study concludes that Ibn Tabataba suggested six central themes together form the solution suggested to overcome the poetical crisis, including: 1.

Technical devices and learning rules of the classical poetical workmanship 2.

New appearance of the oldest coinage 3.

Much employment of rhetoric styles.

4.

Reverse meanings 5.

Convert the prosaic content into poetry.

6.

Coining delicate words elegantly.

Finally, the study found that the felt problem by critic and prevalence during the fourth century was one of the most important motifs for Ibn Tabataba to write his book, and inspired him with the need for an enlightened and well-qualified poet to deal with such a problem.
