The study aimed to investigate the differences in intelligence quotient between children of within family and out family marriages in Khartoum state.

the descriptive method was adopted.

A stratified random sample of 120 children, 60 males and 60 females, aged 9 to 15 years were selected from primary schools in Khartoum state, 50% of the children were from within family marriages and 50% were from out family marriages.

The standardised version of John Raven`s progressive matrices test was used.

Data was analysized with (t) test for independent samples collection in Statistical Package for Social Sciences program.The most important results was: there were no statistically significant differences at 0.05 level in intelligence quotient between children of within family and out family marriages in Khartoum state.

The most important recommendations were to establish a center for heredity studies in Khartoum state and to adopt the case study technique to determine the intelligence quotient instead of entire reliance on Intelligence Scales.
