الملخص EN

The study aimed to investigate the present situation of electronic archiving of some selected institutions in the Khartoum State with emphasis on the problems facing the archiving and archivists and to suggest possible solutions based on scientific evidence.

The study utilized the observation, interviews and questionnaire to obtain the data required for the study.

The questionnaire was distributed to public and private institutions and analyzed with SPSS.

The study found that while more than 50% of the institutions surveyed lacked electronic archiving, those who have the system were struggling with managerial, administrive, technical problems besides the negligence and absence of laws and standards.

The study presented recommendations to solve the problems facing the electronic archiving in these institutions as well as suggestions for the specifications of the electronic archiving software to be considered by these institutions.
