This study aims to achieve several objectives : characterization of tree and shrub species of the Papilionaceae family whether introduced through various eras or those indigenous in Syria ; and determine their role and usage in various processes of ecological rehabilitation (afforestation programs - medicinal usage – nectar source nectariferous...

etc.).

Another aim is to identify these species’ affiliation to the bioclimatic stages (environmental capacity) in their recent distribution range ; and finally showing the areas of their geographical distribution according to the identification of the agricultural methods (rain-fed or irrigated) that suit these natural and introduced species.

The results of this study showed that there are 12 species which were described morphologically and their capacity were determined along the expected geographical distribution according to proposed agricultural process and the areas that these species can be used in a way that can be relied upon in different afforestation activities depending on the species and the area and therefore the rehabilitation of degraded forest sites and the improvement of the aesthetic features of other sites, leading to the enrichment of the biodiversity and the reconstruction of the environment using new multi-purpose species under suitable conditions.
