الملخص الإنجليزي

This paper aims at detailing the contents of the lexicographic text and its structure as designed by al-Khalil in his "Kitab al-Ayn".

Relying on the exploration of samples taken from its entries and roots, we have tried to extract and identify the kind of data (information) contained within each treated text as well as the way they arc listed.

We mean by this last item their structure which we have labelled the horizontal structure, as opposed to another structure which highlights the way the articles of each root are listed and which we have labelled the vertical structure.

الملخص الفرنسي

L’objer de cette intervention porte sur le contenu du texte lexicographique et sa structure, tel qu’il etait con^u ou rcdige par Al-Khalil dans son « Kitab Al-Ayn ».

A partir des echantillons tires d’un certain nombre d’entrccs et de racines, nous avons essaye d’extraire les types d’informations contenues dans chaquc texte ainsi que l'ossaturc de leur cnchaincmcnt ; ccst-a-dirc leur structure, quc j’ai appele structure horizontale, par opposition a une autre structure qui met en relief la manicre avec laquellc les articles de chaquc racine sont ordonnes, et quc j’ai appele structure vcrticale.
