This paper is devoted to the study of the "citation", as an element, among others, that forms the formal structure of the lexicological text.

‘Ihc importance of this work stands on the role of the citation in the context of the linguistic elements of the lexicological text.

'Ihc present study deals with the methodology of using the "citation", recognizing the efforts made by the ancient Arab grammarians and the lexicographers as well as the methodology followed by the lexicographer (both ancient and contemporary) in his justifications to illustrate and establish the rule.

This object implies the study of other elements related to the main theme such as the example based on the definition and contrast.

We have explored the facts mentioned above on the basis of a corpus made up of: Lissan al-Arab of Ibn Mandhour and two contemporary and commonly used dictionaries : al-Wadjiz and al-Wassit.

الملخص الفرنسي

La pr&entc communication est consacr^c h I'dtudc dc la »citation» comme ctant un des elements qui constituent la structure formelle dc 1‘articlc dans le dictionnaire.

L’importancc dc cc travail repose sur le role de «la citation* dans le contcxtc des elements linguistiqucs.

I.e present expose traite de la mithodologie d'apparition dc la citation dam 1’arricle lexicographiquc.

Pour cela, nous soulignons au debut de I'article les efforts entrepris par les grammairiens ct les lexicographes arabes dans lc domainc ct montrons egalemcnt la valeur dc la citation dans la pensee des savants arabes a I epoque mcdicvale, ainsi quc la methodologie i laquclle fait appcl lc Icxicographc (ancicn ct contcmporain) dans scs justifications pour pcrmcttrc d'illustrcr ct dc fonder la regie.

L’objct du theme implique l'ctudc d’autres elements relatifs au theme principal, tel quc l’cxemplc, s’appuyant sur la definition ct le contrastc.

Notre corpus sc constituc du dictionnaire Lissan al-Arab.

al-Wassit ct al-Wajiz.
