دراسة حبات لقاح عدد من أنواع عائلتي الأستر Asteraceae و العائلة الفراشية Papilionaceae النامية في محافظة أربيل-العراق

Palynological characters of twenty one species belonging to the Asteraceae and Papilionaceae collected from specific region in Erbil province has been presented in this work.

The study showed that all kinds of pollen are Monad, symmetrical and isopolar, Zono-aperturate, some of them are tri-colpate as in Onobrychis Mill.

species, or colporate as the rest of Papilionaceae and all Asteraceae species, some of them are tri & tetra–colporate as in the following spp.

Calendula arvensis L., Cnicus benedictus L., Filago pyramidata L., Gundelia tournefortii L., Hedypnois cretica (L.) F.W.

Schmidt, Rhagadiolus stellatus (L.) Gaertn, Medicago rigidula (L.) All.

,and tri–colporate in the other ,the shapes of colpi and endoaperture are variable, shapes of pollen were sub-oblate, oblate-spheroidal, spheroidal, prolate-spheroidal, sub-prolate and prolate, and there were variations in polar and equatorial views for all species.

Pollen were small, medium and large in volume.

Pollen wall ornamentation were distinct in Asteraceae as echinate and echinolophate with variation among each group of the species except the species Atractylis cancellata (L.) which is distinct by its reticulate ornamentation, in Papilionaceae the genus Onobrychis Mill.

differ from other family members by its coarsely reticulate wall and the other are distinct by finely reticulate walls or in distinguish ornamentation.

Depending on what has been mentioned above, it was found that these characters are taxonomically important.
