The study of insects associated with the decline of Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica Manetti) in the massif of Belezma (Algeria), resulted in the determination of 18 species of xylophagous beetles.
Their majority (85%) are represented by the subfamily of Scolytinae.
The most dominant were Scolytus amygdali Guerin, 1847 and Cryphalus numidicus Eichhoff, 1878.
The Buprestidae occupy second place with 14.24% from the total of inventoried xylophagous with 6 species, whereas the most common was Melanophila marmottani (Fairmaire, 1868).
The knowledge of bioecology and outbreaks mechanisms of these species is necessary in order to develop efficient protection strategy against them.
الملخص FRE
L’étude des insectes associés au dépérissement du cèdre de l’Atlas (Cedrus atlantica Manetti) dans le massif de Bélezma (Algérie), a permis de déterminer 18 espèces de Coléoptères xylophages.
Leur majorité est représentée par la sous-famille des Scolytinae avec 85,07 % du total.
Les plus dominantes sont Scolytus amygdali Guerin, 1847 et Cryphalus numidicus Eichhoff, 1878.
Les Buprestidae occupent le second rang avec 14,24 % du total de xylophages inventoriés avec 6 espèces, dont la plus fréquente est Melanophila marmottani (Fairmaire, 1868).
La connaissance de la bioécologie et des mécanismes de pullulations de ces espèces s’impose si l’on veut mettre une stratégie de protection efficace contre elles.
