The aim of the research is to introduce Quality Assurance in libraries and information centers, and how to reflect that on daily work of libraries and information centers.

The research also, addresses how the work in libraries is based on processes, and how the output of a certain process is the input for another, for example; the output of acquisition section is the input of the cataloguing and classification section.

The research discusses the ISO 9001 standard, and how should be implemented in work of the libraries and information centres.

The standard contains eight main sections, four of which are mandatory.

Organizations should abide to these to control processes in libraries and information centers.

These include: Quality Control System, Management Responsibility, Resource Management, and Measurement, Analysis, and Improvement.

To keep up with the new developments in the era of information, librarians should have the necessary characteristics in order to achieve the quality and sustainability of information work.

These characteristics were outlined in the research.

Finally the research covers (not in-depth) how to articulate the strategic plans, define goals, and measure them, and develop performance indicators.
