The study aims to estimate the determinants of the demand for Algeria’s total imports and its components in terms of goods as well as its geographical location during the period (1970-2012).

For this purpose, the study adopts various measures related to goods and geography.

In addition, it gives emphasis on analyzing the importation policy in Algeria.

Besides, the concept of joint integration and error correction methods are used.

To achieve this, the analysis of time-series properties of variables using the test model Dickey-Fuller expanded to determine the rank of the integration of all time series and has been verified joint integration using Johansen test.

The results of these tests revealed for the stability and integrity of each individual time series of first - class and a relationship in the long run between imports and its determinants.
