Damage issue adjustment is implemented, as a matter of general principle, through specific action so as to allow for indemnification of the insured according to insured property damage or loss incurred by same, except as far as initial compensation is concerned; to this effect, Algerian Marine Insurance regulations provide for a Renunciation Rights option.

The Renunciation Rights option is strictly a way of exception which is only resorted to in cases involving serious risks referred to as major disasters in case law; the Renunciation Rights option grants the insured the total insurance amount in return for the abandonment or waiving of the insured property rights in favour of the insurer.
