Media is considered one of the main components in preserving the environment, since it works on spreading environmental concepts and values that promotes and establishes the principles of environmental terminology and ethics.

As well as, it seeks to realize the awareness and development of the environmental sense to every receiver of the environmental media message.

The written press also plays a big role in treating the environmental issues and directing the individuals’ behaviors towards the proper handling with the elements of environment and its resources.

Through that, many concepts and environmental elements are identified, thus, working on spreading the environmental awareness.

This article seeks to shed some light on the media treatments of the environmental issues through supervising its historical development and the factors influencing this treatment, its consequences, in addition to the methods that the written press uses to address these issues.

Finally, the exposure of the role of the written press in the awareness of environmental issues and the problems it has.
