الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aims at investigating the linguistic features of Jordanian children’s variation in the sounds of their words; the phonological processes, and studying their linguistic development from age two to five. That was done by studying the language of twenty Jordanian children by recordings, observation and formal interviews with parents to elicit the data of the study.

The "Motor Theory" and the ''Tongue-Twister Theory'' were used to analyze the collected data. The findings of this study indicate the universal and systematic notion that normal children have the same route of phonological acquisition and this is associated with their systemic and structural simplification processes (mainly, substitution, omission, addition and distortion), despite the fact that children vary in their rate of acquisition illustrated in differences between ages two and five and distinctions between boys’ and girls’ pronunciation.
