Is Zakah required every year ? : should Zakah be paid every year on the same asset ?

السؤال

As-Salamu Alaykum how are you Dr. Monzer ? Suppose, I have a sum equivalent to the value of more than 85 grams of Gold and paid 2.5 as Zakat last year... Do I still need to pay zakat this year and the years to come if I still hold the said amount with me ? If yes, please let me have the Qur'anic proof or evidence of Prophet's (PBUH) Hadeeth on this. May Allah's mercy be upon you all....
