الملخص EN

Once you mention the word rite, ceremony or rituals and linked it to baptizing and ritual ablution and holy water; it seems to any one of us a strange magic exercise a human do among his own social environment, including the ritual of the life cycle through this water.

Water is a sacred unity in all the practices, it is like the element emitting life and the move from a stage to another; from death to life and from life to death, and all the historical and archaeological discoveries confirm that the man does not settle in a place where there is no water, we have chosen this subject to discuss the significance value of water and its uses to the population of Algeria from ancient times to modern era, where human using his primary instincts felt and realized since the past that water is life, so he creates a legendary and mythological aura and a fairy stories about the water; and those who owns the water and live by the banks of rivers, valleys and estuaries had the power over others.

Water is sacred in all religions and human laws, it is in high position in the religious thoughts and practices, water is life itself, and this big sanctification led water to be symbolic element of cleaning, purity and washing sins; according to ancient legends human has invented the gods of water and worshiped it by bringing various gifts and sacrifices ; and we find the graphics of Tassili "Anjar", which represents the oldest reconstruction period in Algeria and North Africa, show a live material evidences on water and the role of it in reconstruction of settlements and populated areas; all the graphics represented the ram and bull, which indicates the worship of Baal, Enzar or bull.

By investigation and as an attempting theory that we say that the primacy of the historical era of Tassili population on ancient pharaohs and by the transmission of cultural and physical sediment and the spread of culture with the principle of theoretical diffusivity as it says Mead we can speculate that Pharaohs and the ancient Egyptians has worshiped Enzar or water god known in Pharaonic Egypt in hieroglyphics as Amon.

Usually spraying water after the exit of bride from her parenting home to her marital home is an exercise aims to revive a myth a lot of its practitioners does not know today and do not know its significance value thus they practice ritual Myth calls for the sanctification of water.

When investigate the theme of water and its holiness and the practices transmitted from generation to another, we find a cohort of elders recounting us the story of Alqaaimah, that rite which they was practicing in order to evoke rain in the Tebessa region.
