Proverbs seem to be among the most distinguished literary genres, since they have roots from which they kick off, positions which express them, and images which isolate them from the other creative works.

In addition to this, proverbs have their restricted style where they set, their language, semantic dimensions that are aimed to the life of nations, people, and individuals, these connotations vary between social, psychological, political semantic, and so on Proverbs, in general, are part of the life of nations and people, they are inspired by history, they contain the inherent, and express thought and culture, as a consequence, the study of proverbs is an important element in anthropological and literary studies.

We try, in this paper to follow the interest of French orient lists in Algerian popular proverbs by collecting and studying them, in addition to explaining the background of that.
