الملخص الإنجليزي

At Administrative unit, Abu al-Khasayb is witnessing a clear, unplanned urban movement that contributes to land erosion and its negative effects on agricultural land use in the judiciary.

The research aims to study and analyze the causes of urban encroachment on agricultural land in Abi AlKhasayb district located south and southeast of Basra and its effects on agriculture.

The research was based on the field study of most agricultural districts in Abi Al-Khasib district, as well as office resources.

The study reached several results, including : 1 - The variety of forms of dredging for urban purposes in the district of Abi al-Khasib because of the expansion of the size of the rural family and the increase in the population and the establishment of housing complexes after the cutting of agricultural land and this occurred mostly in the land of absentees owners and endowments.

As well as dredging for land use for commercial purposes (stores, exhibitions) and various industrial purposes by the population in the city of Basra, and for the purposes of infrastructure to serve the rural people.

2 - Loss of (1369) dunums of arable land in Abi Al-Khasib district for the period from 2006 until the end of 2013.

3 - deterioration of the social fabric of the rural population in the Administrative unit.
