The debate on translation does not date from today but it has always accompanied the translation process as far as it goes back in time.

The issue on the possibility of producing an ideal translation in which the text of the source language is equivalent to the text of the target language has been the concern of many scholars from ancient to modern times.

Ibn Khaldun realized the pivotal role played by concepts in the conveyance of notions, the formulation of information and in the understanding of science as well.

Hence, He made each concept to express his conceptions from a very precise notion of them.

Since the Khaldunian concept carries many meanings to be deduced from the context of the text and its dimensions, this has created difficulties for Georges Labica and Vincent Monteil in finding the equivalents when translating some of the concepts in the (Muqaddima) of Ibn Khaldun .

The Khaldunian text raises the problem of understanding because its words and concepts have multiple meanings and should be translated through exploring the historical, social, philosophical and religious dimensions they carry.

Bilingual dictionaries sometimes do not provide the translator with the equivalent word in the target language.

So, he finds himself dealing with a wide range of equivalents that may not accurately reflect the meaning of the word in the source language, which is a misleading mistake incurring the misunderstanding of the source text.
