The current research is concerned with the study of an important architectural element in Arab architecture in general and Islamic architecture in particular.

This element is the outer wall that appears in an urgent tendency in most ancient Arab buildings and confirms its presence in Islamic architecture.

The research comes in four chapters, the first of which is the problem of research, the importance of research and the need for it, the research objective and the limits of research.

The second chapter presents the theoretical framework with two topics.

The first topic: The walls in Arab and Islamic architecture (historical version) The second topic: the external wall in Arab and Islamic architecture / importance and function While the third chapter includes research procedures which include (the research community, and its design.

Chapter 4 presents the results of the research, including: 1.

The external wall in Islamic architecture bears the Arab identity in its designs, which extend to the depths of the ancient Arab civilizations and is an extension of it.

2 The wall in ancient Arab architecture and Islamic architecture was an important function.

It was a means to achieve traditions and customs rooted in the conscience of the Arab and Islamic societies, and thus the fence included the vocabulary of Arab and Islamic thought and its implications of aesthetics and symbols.
