Traditional concept of police mission has evolved to include various social problems witnessed in the era of globalization and technology.

This new role of police suites the emergence of modern crimes which also evolve with time.

One of the key modern crimes is human trafficking which normally involves transferring victims from their communities to other ones whether within their own countries or outside.

Given the negative social, economic and political impacts of human trafficking crimes on countries, police have to play a crucial role in order to counter them.

UAE has given security bodies a prominent role in combatting human trafficking crimes in terms of receiving related complaints; launching related investigations; referring cases to public prosecution and enforcing judgments issued.

UAE Ministry of Interior also holds intensive training sessions to identify new modus operandi of human traffickers who always adopt novel techniques in order wriggle out of security grip and escape arrest.

This urges police too to adopt new combatting techniques in return.

UAE police has established a host of departments, centers and authorities concerned with countering human trafficking crimes: in 2007 Dubai Police established Human Rights Protection General Directorate as part of a program launched in 2003.
