This study focuses on the political experience of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in Egypt after the revolution of January 2011.

MB’s interest in politics dates back to 1942 when Hassan al-Banna, the MB’s founder, participated in the parliamentary elections for the first time.

As the first freely elected civilian president, Mohamed Morsi, assumed the presidency of the Egyptian state, the highest office ever assumed by an MB’s member since its inception in 1928.

However, this political experiment had never been allowed to mature as the democratization process was aborted by the military coup of July 3, 2013.

Therefore, this study believes in the necessity of an open political horizon and a comprehensive vision that remobilizes Egyptian political forces back together so as to forge a political agenda that brings Egypt out of the dark tunnel it has entered in the last five years.
