الملخص الإنجليزي

There are many reasons that persuaded Imam Hassan to accept peace talks with Muawiyah, including political and military skirmishes initiated by Muawiyah, as well as the weak attitude of his followers dating from the events during his father’s reign which continued into his own reign; there were also different factions in the army of Imam Hassan such as Kharijites, Hamra and skeptics as well as other factions from the Omayyads side who were looking to wage war for the Omayyads.

In addition, there were several attempts by various leaders to assassinate him.

In the peace talks they agreed on several important conditions including the succession after Muawiyah; this was that Imam Hassan would become the Caliph of Muslims.

It later appeared that this condition was just ink on paper and was not implemented in practice.

Failure to implement this condition had a negative impact on the events of Islamic history.

Another issue was the ongoing prosecutions against the family of Muhammad and the transfer of the Caliphate from Shure (consultation) to inheritance i.e.

father to son.

I concluded my research and stated the major conclusions; I also relied on important references.
