The study aims at clarifying the role of integrated environmental management in the conservation or rescue of the remaining areas of the southern Iraq marshes, which represent the natural and economic area of the people of the governorates of Missan -ThiQar – Basrah, as well as the preservation of its ecosystem, under exceptional circumstances (natural and human) which menaced the water areas of the Marshlands and biodiversity.

The study was based on a review and re-evaluation of applied surveys and scientific studies of local and global consultancy conducted during different periods, with an emphasis on studies that followed the rehabilitation.

Emphasis was placed on highlighting the environmental impacts that have occurred to areas of the marshes and its extensions.
