This study examined the role of women heads of households in reducing poverty .

where poverty is one of the biggest challenges facing the people, as it has bad ejfects on society, and women are regarded as among the most affected by it, as women have an active role in reducing the severity of poverty by their contribution to support their families.

The study aimed to identify the most important causes of poverty and its effects on women heads of households, as well as to identify the role of women heads of households in poverty reduction.

The study used descriptive analytical method to describe the phenomenon of poverty and the role of women heads of households to reduce poverty through the case study, and then analyze the data statistically, and then the historical method to track the phenomenon of poverty in some communities was used.

The study included 384 women, and the data entry and analysed by spss and chi square test was performed.

The study found a number of results.

The most important result is that women heads of households got jobs because of the help of their families and this shows the active role played by women heads of households towards their families..One of the most important recommendations is training women heads of households for jobs that would generate decent incomes to help them perform their jobs.
