An evaluation of student-teachers’ CAI knowledge and competencies

The present study sought to identify the needed competencies for using computers in teaching, and the extent to which Taibah University students possess and practice these competencies.

Thus an inventory of the required competencies was designed in addition to a knowledge test on the basics of using computers in instruction.

235 students represented the sample of the study in both the scientific and the literary tracks.

Results showed that there is no difference between the literary track students and the scientific track students in recognizing the needed competencies.

However, the scientific track students surpassed their literary counterparts in the test of using computers in instruction.

Conclusions and recommendations were presented.
