This paper explores specific narrations of the Prophet -PBUH- (i.e.

ahādīth) relating to non-desirability of the sale of properties and residences.

The paper examined thoroughly the authenticity of such ahādīth, their true meaning and the rulings that they encompass.

In addition, the paper looked at the directives that can be derived from them at the micro, meso and macro levels.

The paper concludes with important results and recommendations.

Among these are: There are numerous narrations of the ahādīth, but their degree of authenticity varies significantly.

However, the overall result in all narrations collectively is that they are authentic; their degree is no less than agreeable (Hasan) according to some scholars like Shaikh Al-Albani.

The rulings in ahādīth are for persuasion, desirability and not proscription.

Some of the companions acted upon the statements of these narrations to attain the blessings from the implementation of the saying of the Prophet -PBUHand not because it was an obligation; something that they must adhere to.
