The study focused on the Saudi-Syrian relations between 1980 and 2000.

This period witnessed many regional and international events and developments that affected relations between the two countries, notably the first Gulf War (1980-1988), whose effects were not limited to both sides - Iraq and Iran But expanded to include the whole region, especially the regional environment, including Saudi Arabia and Syria, the latter chose to stand with Iran, thus contradicting the Saudi position on the war, creating a confused situation in the Arab regional system.

The period of research also witnessed the second Gulf War (1991), which had a major impact on inter-Arab relations throughout the nineties of the twentieth century.
